Do I need a referral to schedule an imaging appointment?
Not all imaging studies can be self-referred. In most cases, a physician’s order is required by law and insurance providers. However, some screening exams—such as DEXA (bone density) or screening mammograms—may be eligible for self-referral depending on your insurance plan and clinical history.
We recommend calling our office to verify whether your exam qualifies for self-referral.
How should I prepare for my imaging test?
Please bring:
- A valid photo ID
- Your insurance card
- Physician’s referral
- Any prior imaging on CD or report, if available
Preparation varies by exam:
MRI/CT: Avoid wearing metal and inform us of any implants or pacemakers.
Ultrasound: Some exams require fasting or a full bladder.
DEXA/X-ray: No special preparation needed.
You’ll receive specific instructions when scheduling your exam.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare. Our staff will verify your benefits before your appointment. Self-pay options and payment plans are also available.
How long does it take to get my results?
Results are typically available to your referring physician within 48 hours. Stat reads are available for urgent cases.
You may request a CD or printed report. We can also fax or securely email the report to your physician.
